Suzanna Harman

Suzanna Harman graduated with honors from Indiana University with a major in Criminal Law and Justice and minor in Sociology. She was awarded a full academic merit scholarship to attend and repeatedly made the Dean’s Honor List and received numerous academic achievement awards.

Suzanna then went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, Fowler School of Law. While there, she took many opportunities to spearhead projects on behalf of her fellow classmates as well as her first love – animals. For nearly her entire time at Chapman, Suzanna coordinated a lunch-time yoga group to encourage fitness and balanced lifestyles among the law school’s students, faculty, and administrators. As president of the Animal Law Society, Suzanna organized presentations and fundraisers to benefit various animal shelters and animal advocacy groups. She also arranged therapy dog visits to help her fellow students cope with the stress of final exams.

Throughout her three years in law school, Suzanna worked as a legal clerk for prominent Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer, Fay Arfa. She began working at a Los Angeles animal rights law firm, as a legal clerk during her second year at Chapman. Following her admission to the bar, she continued her legal career at The Law Offices of Jill L. Ryther, now Ryther Law Group, as an associate attorney. She also served as associate attorney, treasurer, and CFO of the vegan nonprofit organization Expand Animal Rights Now – EARN.

Suzanna is a great asset to McDonald & Harman, with training in litigation and animal rights law. She is a dedicated advocate for animal rights with the skills and knowledge to successfully advance the rights of animals, their advocates, and their guardians. Suzanna’s compassion for animals and people alike shows in the way she addresses her clients’ important needs with care and sensitivity while giving a voice to those who do not often have one.
